Grandparents’ Breakfast Update from the PTA

Dear Lutz Prep parents,

Happy Friday, Lutz Prep!

Kristin McCormick, our PTA Hospitality Chair has been hard at work organizing our 2012-2013 Grandparents Breakfast. She is still in need of parent volunteers.

We are looking for parents who are available to set up the event on Tuesday, September 11th from 8pm-10pm in the gym. We would appreciate some men to help move tables on this evening.

We are seeking volunteers to assist with parking, greeting, food hostesses, and clean up on both Wednesday, September 12 and Thursday, September 13th. This is approximately from 6:30am-9:30am. If you are unable to assist the entire time, we will still wholeheartedly accept your help!

This is a fun way to start banking your 25 hours of volunteer time for the school year.

Please contact me via email at sharejoyandhappiness@gmail.com.

Much aloha and Lightning Bolt spirit,
Kim Lamke
PTA President

Supporting Lutz Prep

The following is an announcement from the Board of Directors and the Lutz Prep PTA

As Lutz Prep enters its second year of operation, including new grades and a new building, support from parents and friends is more important than ever. Lutz Prep is evolving in the scope and level of involvement required to attain an uncompromising level of excellence. Help in all areas of the school’s operations is essential for continued growth and development and is greatly appreciated by all who learn here and all who send their children here.

Here are a few updates for the coming year:

Parent Volunteer Hours

As the school year rapidly approaches, Lutz Prep will soon begin sending out calls for volunteers. Every family will be required to contribute 25 hours over the course of the academic year. These hours can be completed in any number of ways, as determined by Mrs. Farmer, the PTA, and other school sources. Each family will receive information about these opportunities as they arise.

This year, Lutz Prep has instituted a buyout option. Please be advised that a family under 25 hours at the end of the academic year will be invoiced at $25 per hour owed.

PTA

The Lutz Prep PTA is excited to announce some of its goals and events for the 2012-2013 school year. One objective is to support the teachers, students and faculty in their endeavor to strengthen the positive educational setting here at Lutz Prep. As we work toward this goal, we hope that activities such as informative and educational safety programs, Grandparent’s Breakfast, Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week, and a First Annual Silent Auction and Dinner will allow us to enhance the overall school atmosphere at Lutz Prep.

At the end of the 2011-2012 school year, the Lutz Prep PTA was proud to allocate funds for Music, Art, Spanish and the Media Center. Additionally, we were able to purchase over $3,000 worth of technology equipment for Lutz Prep.

We are delighted to welcome all of the new parents and can’t wait for you to become members of our outstanding PTA!  Be on the lookout for information coming home with your children on how to get involved. Also, stay tuned for our new Lutz Prep PTA website for updated information!

Fundraising

Last year’s Founding Families Campaign was completed with more than $90,000 donated toward the School’s first year. As the school moves into its second year, a sustained giving program will begin with the hope that every family will make a contribution.

All families and interested friends will be given the opportunity each year to make a tax deductible, financial contribution to the Lutz Prep Leadership Fund (LPLF). The LPLF will serve as the “annual fund” for the school and each year will support classroom grants (a generous stipend per teacher), new technology, student assistance, a principal’s fund, an advancement fund, and projects deemed most pressing by the Board of Directors.

With their permission, contributors will be recognized in two giving levels:  the Lightning Blue Club for contributions up to $1,000 and the Twenty Eleven Society for contributions of $1,000 and above. An Honor Roll of Donors will be posted on the Lutz Prep website and in other publications.

Pledge forms can be found on the website under the “Donate to Lutz Prep” page here, or picked up at the front office.

Parents, grandparents and friends who wish to fund a more substantial, specific project may do so by contacting Mrs. Farmer or board member, Mrs. Christine Smith at cds208@lehigh.edu.

Gifts in Kind

A list of needed items will be posted on the website for those interested in contributing. Please check this list from time to time as it may change.

The Board of Directors thanks everyone who contributes in any way.  Together, we will realize the dream of Lutz Preparatory School!

Thank you all for a wonderful Teacher Appreciation Week!

Special thanks to our amazing PTA, Homeroom Parents, parent/grandparent volunteers, and our students and families for treating the staff and faculty to many delights last week for Teacher Appreciation Week. Very kind!

Dear Families,       The LUTZ PREP PTA Nominating Committee would like to remind you to check your child’s backpack for a blue PTA Nomination form which was sent home last Friday. Positions on the PTA EXECUTIVE BOARD include President, Vice President of Ways and Means, Vice President of Membership, Vice President of Programs, Treasurer, Secretary and Corresponding Secretary. If you need another form, please check with Robin in the front office for extra forms. You may nominate several individuals if you would like. The Nomination Committee will evaluate forms and make recommendations for Officers to the PTA General Assembly on Friday, May 11th at which time we will vote. Please keep in mind that those serving on the EXECUTIVE BOARD COMMITTEE should be current members of the LUTZ PREP PTA and will be expected to attend bi-weekly Board Meetings beginning next FALL. Officers may serve in a position for two years consecutively but must be renominated each year. As always, the PTA sincerely appreciates all of our amazing members and their commitment to our school.
If you have any questions about the Nomination and Election process, please feel free to contact me at yasmeenneuman@yahoo.com.
Thank you,
Yasmeen Neuman, Nominating Committee Chairperson

3). Last, but not least, a Yearbook Update & Request, from Mrs. Sarah Walker:

Hello everyone!  As we began cranking out with our yearbook plans today we learned the life touch images on the disc are actually icon sized. They cannot be blown up without being so blurry they are unusable. While this was a disappointment, we will not let it stop us from getting a book together. We will just make a “memory book” A more informal version of a yearbook. Friday afternoon Heather Boggs will pop into each classroom and take a group shot of the class. We will then continue on with a collage page for each class as well as pages dedicated to PBS events/ 100th day of school/ inter nation Feast etc. Please send in any pictures you have by Monday either in email (full sized, no more than 4 at a time, please) to Sarah Walker or on a disc to Ms Robin. We really want to be sure each kid is included in the different photos. So even if you only have one photo send it!!!! Thank you all so much!!
Sincerely,
Sarah Walker (SarahWalker910@gmail.com)
